The D-Day Landing Beaches

A visit to the beaches can often be the highlight of a trip to Normandy, to France even, and as a guide I am very sensitive to this fact.

Whether it be through a desire for a better understanding of the momentous events of 1944 or for more personal, family reasons, seeing the the landing beaches for themselves can be a very moving experience for many people.

This is why it is well worth planning ahead, staying in the area, taking the distances involved into consideration and giving oneself enough time... And if here is not the place for an exhaustive look at all the sites and their history, some thoughts about visiting the beaches might be helpful, along with an overview of the beaches themselves.
